No End to BJP Agenda of Reclaiming Mosques

Supreme Court as well as people of the country had hoped that with the settlement of the Babri Masjid- Ram Janmabhoomi dispute, India will have a peaceful future for all time to come but very soon it shattered.

Hindutva elements with open support by the leadership started making claims to one mosque to another across the country. Mosques at Kashi and Mathura were added to it.

And BJP has jumped onto the wagon. Media reports said that the party said on its X handle on Sunday that the dream of the Ram temple has been fulfilled, now it is the turn of Mathura-Vrindavan.

The party also extended support to a statement by Baba Bageshwar who on said in an interview to a news channel that Ram had been enthroned, now Krishna Kanhaiya would take his seat.

RSS a few days back had said that it would not participate in movements for temples at Mathura and Kashi but it would not stop its workers from participating it them. It is touching the nose straight or from the other side. RSS's view over the two temples is that Muslims should hand over them to Hindus.

Making claims to mosques which were allegedly built up over existing Hindu religious structure has been integral part of the Hindutva philosophy. As Hindutva is a political ideology aimed at making India a de facto Hindu Rashtra, the Babri Masjid- Janmabhoomi Bhumi and issue and the other issues subsequent to it have purely been political issues.

Judicial resolution to them is not the solution. It needs to be confronted politically to solve. But who will bell the cat? Every political party needs a slice of the Hindu votes.
