Bihar Election 2025: Muslims Optimise Mobilisation for Phase 2 Poll

Word has gone around among the Muslims in Bihar that their citizenship is in danger. "So come back in massive numbers to the state to cast their votes to save their rights," is the message that the migrants of the community are getting from their family members back in Bihar

For the first time, Bihar is seeing the largest number of Muslim candidates in the fray. Prashant Kishor of Jan Suraaj has nominated 34 Muslim candidates, RJD 10 and JDU four. In the second phase of polling, there are several Muslim-dominated constituencies.

RJD has been their traditional party. But this time, Prashant Kishor is trying to eat into its support base.  Jan Suraaj has given them a new formula to fight BJP. Ally with those Hindus who do not vote for the saffron party. Another mantra that Jan Suraj suggested to them is to increase their representation in Assembly and Parliament to make their voices heard.

Which party they would tilt towards is hazardous to guess. The INDIA alliance is dead opposed to the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register for Citizenship (NRC). Prashant had resigned from JDU when the party supported the CAA. Both Jan Suraaj and the India alliance are in the race for their votes. It will be interesting to see whom they would vote for. It will decide their fate as well as the direction of politics the country would take.
